Mise en Scene

Mise en Scene was something I thought carefully about when planning my music video so my video would appeal to my target audience which is teens-mid 20's and also seem realistic using conventions which come under the titles of, Camera angles, Props, Costume and Editing.

Props: These are very important in creating a realistic feel to my video which will make my music video more successful and professional looking. The props I will feature in my music video will be a heart cushion which will be ripped in half to symbolise a broken heart. A ceramic shaped heart which will be dropped and smashed on a hard surface to show how a heart can shatter and other generic things such as a sofa which the 2 people will be sitting on which will create a close proximity to show how close and in love they were.

I will source my props from a cheap store located near to me. I did some online reseach into what products they have in their show to see what I could potentially get to use in my video. These are what I found online.

Another prop I will need are some feather filled pillows which hopefully I will be able to pick up from the discounted store also.

Camera Angles: To ensure my music video looks as professional and realistic as possible I will use a varied amount of camera angles which will fit my Televised Bard style. Using close ups, long shots and mid shots will create this. I used the obvious camera angles such as close ups of my female artist and low angled shots to create a greater male gaze which is a theory suggested by Laura Mulvey.

Costume: In terms of costume my music video will have a relaxed casual style when it comes to clothes. Throughout the video my artist will be wearing latest trends but nothing formal as I want to create a casual and fun look. White jeans with black tops. Crop tops and high waisted jeans will be the type of look I will be looking to create. There will be one scene in my video where the clothing is extremely casual with my artist and her boyfriend in a flash back. He will be wearing a tracksuit and she will be wearing a casual floaty top with skin tight jeggings.

Editing: This will be my final point of creating my video. In this post production I will be using the editing software program FinalCutPro which will help me in adding the final touches to my video to make it look as realistic and professional as possible. On this program I will be able to add the sound track to the video and edit it so I can fit the lip syncing to the correct parts of the song. This will also allow me to add any titles I need to add, flip clips and edit to make clips slower or faster.

locations

Arianna Grande's music video for break free has a very unrealistic theme, it is set in space and uses ideas such as guns which shoot fire and aliens to create this. Due to this the video is an Electronic Shaman as it incorporates these ideas. For my own music video I want to create a televised bard whereby the artist creates a story using on screen images to create a story about life or death. in my music video these images will come from the greatness of the artist or the wishes she wants to fore-fill. In this case it will show off both elements as she will be showing her wishes of getting away from him and breaking free and also be showing off that she is strong enough to end the relationship.

Here is the break free video to show what is meant by a Electronic Shaman music video.
